Laura, why Charlottesville?
My father came to UVa for a job as a professor in the nuclear engineering department, so I am the only one in my family that was born here.
Where is your favorite place to eat?
For brunch you can’t beat Tip Top on Pantops - best view in Charlottesville from their patio. For dinner, it’s a cross between Bang near the Downtown Mall, Parallel 38 at Stonefield Shops and Orzo on West Main St.
What is your favorite event or show you have seen?
U2 at Scott Stadium, Sarah McLachlan and Baaba Seth at the Pavilion, Afro-Cuban All-Stars at the Paramount and Kishi Bashi at the Jefferson.
What is your favorite time of year?
Spring makes Charlottesville one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. In every garden around town daffodils, forsythia, azaleas, redbuds and dogwood trees, among others, come to life and the colors are just amazing.
What about Charlottesville surprises you the most?
At the vast number of activities there are to choose from any given day - there are almost too many!
Charlottesville Hidden Gem?
The Clifton Inn - either dining at the chef’s table or on their porch when the weather is nice and it’s the hour before sunset.
Going to Montauk on Long Island with close friends for a July 4th weekend a few years ago.
Favorite Tech Tool?
My Mac and phone.
Favorite Place to Shop?
Anywhere on the Downtown Mall.
