He also has a passion for knowledge that has stretched from his time at Michigan State University, where he earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Construction Management, to throughout his career. He stays on top of the latest residential construction technology, and has earned designations such as Certified Green Professional from the National Association of Home Builders.

John has given his time and leadership to the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association, Professional Builders Council, Free Enterprise Forum and the Construction Specifications Institute. He is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders, Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors, and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.
