Preschools in Charlottesville
This is the time of year when parents in our area are making plans for enrolling in preschools for the next school year – which typically starts in early September.
While it can seem that all of the options you’re interested in have already filled up for the year by January, there are actually many excellent choices for all age groups – and there are even language immersion programs like at the International School of Charlottesville, which starts teaching classes in Spanish and French at the age of 2 years.
If the one you want is full, ask to be put on a waiting list. Also, consider signing up for several even if you expect to get into the one you think you want. Most offer several different programs (e.g., two, three or five days a week) and may not offer you the choice you want.
We’ve compiled a list of preschools in our area divided into areas depending upon where you live.
It’s always a great idea to visit and see whether the facility is a good fit for your child. Be sure to ask your friends, family and neighbors what they might recommend. Many of the preschools hold open houses this time of year so it’s a great way to check out the classes and see how the other children in the program enjoy it.
